Dutchman Erik ten Hag’s role as manager of Manchester United is said to be under threat

Manchester United opted to extend Erik ten Hag’s contract by one year instead of dismissing him during the summer.

Ten Hag is currently under contract at Old Trafford until June 2026, but that doesn’t guarantee his job is secure.

United has had an unimpressive start to the new season, winning only one of their first four games.

Ten Hag’s team lost 3-0 at home to rivals Liverpool in their last match before the international break.

The bookmakers predict Ten Hag, along with Everton’s Sean Dyche, will be the first Premier League manager to be fired this season.

Erik ten Hag’s position as Manchester United manager is thought to be under threat.

According to The Guardian, Ten Hag may face dismissal if his playing style does not improve.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Dan Ashworth, and Jason Wilcox, key members of United’s Ineos-led football department, have expressed dissatisfaction with Ten Hag’s team’s lack of dominance in games.

Ratcliffe and Co acknowledge Ten Hag’s injury struggles this season and believe he needs time to integrate his five senior summer recruits.

United spent over £200 million on new players after finishing seventh in the Premier League last season, including Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Manuel Ugarte.

Ugarte has yet to make his United debut, and Yoro had a major injury on a pre-season trip to the USA.

Rasmus Hojlund, Ten Hag’s first-choice central striker, has also yet to play this season after sustaining an injury in America.
