Chelsea owners considering their choices following the breakup

Following their 2022 purchase of Chelsea from Roman Abramovich, Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano of Clearlake Capital, along with Todd Boehly, have presided over two years of record-breaking expenditure and utterly disheartening on-field performances.

Boehly and Eghbali’s relationship has reportedly deteriorated to the point where both parties are contemplating all of their available alternatives, according to Bloomberg. The club continuously denied reports of a bust-up between the two earlier this year.

Boehly and Clearlake are reportedly considering selling each other their Chelsea stakes because they are worried about their future collaboration.

With 61.54 percent of the shares, Clearlake is the biggest shareholder. Boehly, Mark Walter, and Hansjorg Wyss make up the remaining 38.46% of the company.

The Telegraph notes that Clearlake is not trying to unload its shares but rather increase their club ownership.

In all likelihood, Boehly and Eghbali got into an argument regarding Chelsea’s hiring practices, the team’s on-field play, and the stadium construction standstill.

They are still planning to manage the club properly and are fully devoted to Chelsea, but they are considering a separation due to some behind-the-scenes concerns.
