While making history with his national team, future Chelsea star Estevao Willian delivered a heartfelt letter.
In Friday night’s 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Ecuador, the 17-year-old made his Brazilian debut.
Rodrygo, a star player for Real Madrid, scored the game-winning goal as Brazil advanced in their quest to qualify for the 2026 event.
During the second half, Brazil’s manager Dorivial Junior substituted Estevao with Luiz Henrique.
As a result of the replacement, Estevao tied Endrick, who signed with Real Madrid this summer, for the second-youngest player to make their debut for Brazil since the turn of the century.
Estevao thanked everyone for the chance after his debut by posting a social media message. The eventual Chelsea great detailed the event’s lasting impression on him.To God be the glory and honor, for there are no answers, Estevao stated on Instagram.
“A day marked for the rest of my life, very happy to make my debut with the heaviest shirt in the world, only agent to God and my family.”
A contract for £28.7 million plus an additional £19.4 million in add-ons could bring the total to more than £48 million; Chelsea and Palmeiras reached an agreement on this in the summer. Estevao is still with the Brazilian club for the time being, and when the teenager will formally join Chelsea is anyone’s guess.
According to Brazilian outlet Nosso Palestra, Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Estevao when his current contract with Palmeiras expires. If that happens, Palmeiras would play Fluminense in their penultimate home match of the season on December 8, marking the last day of the Brasileirao.
