The defender for Manchester United, Lisandro Martinez, provided a positive assessment of himself on Tuesday night despite Argentina’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Colombia.

At the Roberto Melendez Metropolitan Stadium, goals from James Rodriguez and Yerson Mosquera helped Colombia defeat Argentina 2-1.

Rodriguez floated a cross to the far post, which Mosquera properly connected with to send the home team ahead in the 25th minute.

After the break, Nico Gonzalez went past the Colombian defense and guided the ball through the goalkeeper’s knees into the back of the net for Argentina, who had been lacking in offense due to the absence of their leader Lionel Messi.

Rodriguez scored from the spot kick at the hour mark after Colombia was given a penalty.

Even though his team lost, Martinez performed admirably when Lionel Scaloni used him in a relatively new left-back position in another game.

After spending 64 minutes on the field, Martinez was replaced by Marcos Acuna.

Martinez made one tackle in his brief time on the field, a last-man challenge that prevented Colombia from getting close to Emi Martinez’s goal.

Three of the four ground duels that the World Cup winner engaged in were won. He was forced to compete in one aerial challenge, and he won.

With 30 touches of the ball, the 26-year-old found his teammates successfully on 18 of his 19 passes attempted, for an individual pass accuracy of 95%.

He sent two long balls pings and made a connection each time. Martinez also started and finished both of his dribbles.

The United defender was reliable at left defense, and his side of the field was definitely safer than the other. At the conclusion of the first half-hour, he had a great opportunity to score and could have put his name on the scoresheet, but he wasted it.

Martinez’s focus is now only on United and the team’s impending Premier League encounter with Southampton.
