After they met multiple times at Old Trafford during the first half of the 2022–2023 season, Ronaldo has rekindled his rivalry with Ten Hag.
This resulted in the iconic forward, just before departing United for the Saudi Pro League, publicly criticizing the manager, his teammates at United, and the club’s owners in an interview with Piers Morgan.
Ten Hag has won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup since Ronaldo left, but they have had terrible results in Europe and the Premier League, with their eighth-place finish in the previous season being the lowest in the team’s history.
The Dutchman stated in July that the Red Devils would need to go “a long way” before they could contend with teams like Manchester City and Arsenal for the championship.
Ronaldo concurred with that stance in an interview on Rio Ferdinand Presents, but he also said that Ten Hag shouldn’t have made his evaluation of the side so well known.
Alejandro Garnacho, a current player, appears to concur with the legendary United player, as seen by his liking of a transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano’s Instagram post with several of Ronaldo’s statements.”Man United coach cannot say they can’t compete to win the Premier League and the Champions League every year,” was one of the specific quotes.
Man United is this! To psychologically say, “Listen, maybe we don’t have that potential,” but I can’t say that, you have to be present. We are going to give it a shot. You must give it a shot.
Man United has to rebuild for this reason. Ten Hag might be able to assist if he pays attention to United coach Ruud van Nistelrooy. He is aware of the club, and it is imperative that the club pay attention to the guys who were present.
Although Garnacho later liked the post, it was too late to stop viewers from noticing. This is not the first time the international player for Argentina has seemed to criticize his manager on social media.
The attacker liked two tweets in April criticizing Ten Hag for benching Garnacho during United’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at halftime.
The Red Devils’ next game is on Saturday when they travel to Southampton, therefore it is unclear if the 20-year-old will face any consequences from the team or his boss.
