Mikel, though, maintains that his criticism of the Chelsea player “comes from a good place.”
“I’ve always expressed my opinions regarding Nicolas Jackson.” Mikel said beIN Sports, “He is a good player; I have never said he is a bad player.”
The only complaint is that he could have done a better job of finishing. He provides for the team by meeting our needs and being there when we need him to.
When asked if Jackson concurs with that judgment by fellow analyst Ruud Gullit, Mikel said, “I don’t think he agrees to that but I think everyone will understand what I am saying.” It’s a genuinely helpful critique that doesn’t originate from a negative place.
“As long as he knows that himself,” Gullit remarked. Then Mikel said, “But he doesn’t.” That’s why he urged me to stop talking when he scored!
Following the club’s inability to buy Victor Osimhen in the last stages of the summer transfer window, Jackson has continued to be Chelsea’s first-choice striker this season.
Regarding the miscalculated move, Maresca remarked, “We want players, but we wanted a player that we decide.”
It must comply with our requirements. It wasn’t if a player isn’t present. We’ll find out in January.
“Even before [in Jackson], the club and I had faith,” Maresca continued. “We have faith in Nicolas.” I mentioned that he was doing great with us when the transfer window was open.
“All I know is that he is going to sign a new contract, but I’m not sure for how long.”
“I’m overjoyed.” Nicolas is working with us really well. He scored once more. Though we’re satisfied with him, he had more opportunities.
