Cincinnati native recognized as Reds’ nominee for Roberto Clemente Award

A Cincinnati native was recognized this week as the Reds’ nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award, given annually to the player who best represents the game through community involvement and positive contributions.

Left-handed relief pitcher Brent Suter, a Moeller High School graduate, was selected as the Reds’ representative this week, Major League Baseball announced.

In the midst of his first season in Cincinnati after eight seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers and Colorado Rockies, Suter has been involved in numerous initiatives off the field in 2024.

The 35-year-old has spent frequent time at the Reds Youth Academy, working with young athletes at the facility.

Suter has partnered with La Soupe, an organization that rescues food set to be wasted and repurposes it to help feed people around the community.

Suter has also worked with the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League, which works to offer accessible fields and opportunities to athletes with special abilities.
