Loanwatch: James Nolan emerges victorious for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, while Jadon Sancho contributes once again

This past weekend, a few of Manchester United’s hordes of loanees were in action in England and Scotland.

James Nolan (Cave Rangers vs. Inverness Caledonian Thistle)

James Nolan made an immediate impression for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, scoring the team’s first goal against Cove Rangers five minutes after entering the game off the bench.

The 18-year-old right-back’s first attempt was stopped, but Nolan scored the equalizer immediately away off the rebound, giving Duncan Ferguson’s team a 1-1 draw and a point salvaged.

Jadon Sancho (Chelsea vs. West Ham United)

Jadon Sancho has contributed two assists in two games for Chelsea, extending his impressive start to life in London. In just the fourth minute of his debut start for Enzo Maresca’s team, the 24-year-old set up Nicholas Jackson for the game’s first goal. He completed 90% of his passes, although he also gave up the ball five times.

After 57 minutes, Pedro Neto took his position.

Elyh Harrison (Chester FC vs. Russell Olympic)

Elyh Harrison, a young goalkeeper, has impressed so far in his four outings for Chester FC, keeping two clean sheets. Chester moved up to second place in the National League North after coming back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Rushall Olympic.

Joe Hugill (Wigan Athletic vs. Lincoln City)

Wigan Athletic drew out a goalless draw against Lincoln City as Joe Hugill labored up front. After an hour, he was hooked despite managing to get off one shot and only recording 12 touches and 4 passes, of which 3 found their intended target.

Tom Myles (Runcorn Linnets vs. Vauxhall Motors)

Runcorn Linnets defeated Vauxhall Motors 1-0 thanks to a shutout from Tom Myles, a young goalkeeper for United who is also establishing himself on loan. They are now in 16th place in the Northern Premier League’s West Division after their second victory of the year and third clean sheet.

Tom Wooster (Leamington vs. Farsley Celtic)

Farsley Celtic lost 1-0 at home to Leamington despite Tom Wooster’s fourth goalkeeping appearance of the season following his comeback from injury.

The 19-year-old stopped four shots, but he was powerless to stop a looping header that ended up being the game-deciding factor between the two teams. Only 11 of the 20 passes he attempted hit their target, despite seeing a lot of the ball.

Rhys Bennett is expecting to play for Fleetwood Town against Morecambe tomorrow night after his strike in the 91st minute sent his team’s Carabao Cup match against Stoke City to penalties earlier this week. Sonny Aljofree, 19, is still waiting for his first start at Accrington Stanley.
