Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani has done it. After being the quickest player to become a member of the 40/40 club, he is now the solo pilot of the 50/50 club.
Ohtani had 48 home runs and 49 stolen bases coming into Thursday’s matchup with the Miami Marlins but had a great game. He mashed three home runs and two stolen bases to be the first player to achieve 50+ home runs and stolen bases in MLB history.

Ohtani just shattered a ceiling many people did not think could be shattered. Being a DH only this season, he has been able to focus just on the offensive side of the game, and that has surely paid off.
Next season, he is expected to return to the mound. So, his offensive prowess could take a hit, but then again, it is Ohtani, and he has done nothing but prove doubters wrong.

With his impressive performance against the Marlins, Shohei Ohtani should further lengthen his lead as the NL MVP Award favorite. According to DraftKings, he is odds are -5000 but that should change soon.
Another MVP Award and Ohtani would join an elite group of players with three or more to their names. Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, and Stan Musial are just a few names on this list.
He is pretty far off from Barry Bonds’ record of seven MVP Awards. However, if there was one player that could do it, it would be Ohtani.
With how he looked on Friday, we also cannot put it past I’m to reach 60 home runs this season. He has just nine games to hit nine more but could take advantage of the series in Colorado.
