Love me, love my dog – De Ligt’s girlfriend follows him at Man United
Can Erik ten Hag combine a stronger record at the back with a much-needed brutality in the last third? Their defense has changed from the previous season, both in terms of players and performance.
During the 7-0 midweek victory over Barnsley, Manchester United had no trouble reaching the back of the net. Ten Hag did, however, praise Matthijs de Ligt and Marcus Rashford for their successive goals against Southampton the previous game, even if United still squandered a number of opportunities at St Mary’s.
The final score of the match was 3-0. However, the visitors would have scored four goals or more in a Premier League game for the first time under the former Ajax manager if United had not been so wasteful following their quick-fire double salvo late in the first half.
In the end, those wasted opportunities didn’t really matter because United won handily at St Mary’s.That would not be the case at Selhurst Park for United, though. United managed to force a goalless draw despite having an XG of almost two, with Ajelandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, and the tall De Ligt all missing extremely good chances.Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, two Manchester United players, are Andre Onana’s natives.
It was a match that Man United ought to have won handily. But, they had the chance to lose the game as well.Even with strong individual efforts from Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, and De Ligt, United still required Andre Onana’s incredible double save to save them in the second half of the match.
Apart from such valiant actions, the Cameroonian international goalkeeper’s evening in South London was relatively uneventful.
And Onana was full of appreciation for those in front of him as United maintained a clean sheet for the third time in a row for the first time in 20 months. especially for De Ligt and Mazraoui, two guys the goalie had in the same changing room at Ajax.
The two played together at Bayern Munich as well, with De Ligt praising longtime teammate Mazraoui with great affection.
Fantastic. I remember them [from] a long time ago; these are faces I am familiar with,” Onana says with a smile, noting the services of Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire as well as the soon-to-be-returning Victor Lindelof.
I’m glad to play with them, but not just with them.
“Harry was progressing well, and Victor Lindelof is back.” When the team needs him, Jonny Evans is here. It’s a good mix, then.
