Rangers’ Minor League Player of the Year leads Arizona Fall League representatives

The Texas Rangers will send their Minor League Player of the Year, outfielder Alejandro Osuna, to lead an eight-player team in the Arizona Fall League.

These eight players will compete for the Surprise Saguaros, who play their home games at the Rangers’ spring training facility. The Saguaros are made up of prospects from Houston, Cleveland, Baltimore, Kansas City, and the Rangers. The five-week season kicks off on October 7 and continues through early November.

Osuna, who turns 22 on October 10, made a strong comeback from a shoulder injury that ended his 2023 season.

He began the year at Hickory and finished at Double-A Frisco, posting a slash line of .292/.362/.507/.869. After a slower start in April, he hit .300 with an .893 OPS from May onward. Over the course of the season, he recorded 18 home runs and 17 stolen bases. Osuna was ranked 13th on The Dallas Morning News’ end-of-season top 30 prospect list.

He will also be accompanied by two pitchers from the top 30 list: reliever Marc Church (No. 25) and right-handed starter Skylar Hales (No. 26).

Church, 23, was restricted to just 20 games this season due to arm issues that arose early on and sidelined him for nearly four months. If he had remained healthy, he likely would have received an opportunity in the major leagues. He will head to spring training next year with the chance to secure a spot in the revamped Rangers bullpen.
