Milan defeated Lecce 3-0 in Serie A on Friday, with Christian Pulisic continuing his goal-scoring run with a brace in the final five minutes before halftime.
After 38 minutes, the home team took the lead thanks to Álvaro Morata’s swerving header from a free kick by Theo Hernández. soon two minutes later, Hernández received a feed from Rafael Leão and smashed the ball into the top of the net from a narrow angle. Pulisic doubled the score soon before half-time.
It was the American’s fifth goal in seven games this season, bringing his total goals and assists to 32, which is more than anybody else in Serie A since he joined the Rossoneri in June of last year.
In addition to scoring in the USMNT’s friendly against New Zealand earlier this month, Pulisic extended his goal scoring streak to four games with Milan with this finish.
Despite Milan’s straight red card for Davide Bartesaghi in the waning minutes, Lecce were unable to mount a comeback.
With the win, Milan draws level with Torino atop the league with 11 points; however, Torino has Sunday’s match against Lazio to clinch first place.
In their first six games, Lecce have managed just one victory and five points, putting them in fourth place from the bottom.
