Jadon Sancho has already tied one of Chelsea’s goal contribution totals from the previous two seasons thanks to his outstanding start at the club.
The winger, who joined the Blues this summer on a loan from Manchester United, has already had a tremendously beneficial impact. With a deft through pass on Saturday, Sancho set up Cole Palmer for his historic fourth goal as Chelsea defeated Brighton 4-2.
It was his third assist in as many games for his new team, and even though September is still young, he has already matched the 2022–2023 season’s total of assists.
In the Premier League season, Chelsea finished 12th, and Raheem Sterling and Hakim Ziyech were their main assist providers. Each player finished with three, the former in 28 outings and the latter in 18 games.
Sancho made an immediate effect at Chelsea, as seen by the seven other players who each had two goals and the remaining seven who only had one assist.
First, in their 3-0 triumph against West Ham, the 24-year-old set up Christopher Nkunku for his winning goal against Bournemouth. Later, he found Nicolas Jackson.
Palmer leads the way with four assists this season, while he and Jackson are tied at three.Sancho, who is hoping to score his first goal soon, also won the penalty that Palmer converted against Brighton. He also had a goal disallowed for offside.
“I felt like I grew into the game [against Brighton], but I thought I started off a bit slow,” he said to the Chelsea media team.
“I’m glad I could help out overall since I was able to win the penalty and provide Cole the assist. I was just excited to play my debut game as a Chelsea player at Stamford Bridge.”It was an amazing sensation, and I was grateful for the fans’ support. Receiving a standing ovation from the crowd was an amazing feeling, and it was made even more memorable because my family and friends were present.
“I’m glad I was able to help my teammates score goals in the last few games. I’m adjusting in nicely, and I just want to keep this momentum going and help my teammates.” maybe even score the opening goal—that would be wonderful!”
Several Chelsea players have excelled in the opening few games of Enzo Maresca’s season, Sancho being just one of them.In all competitions, Palmer and Nkunku have equaled six goals apiece, with Noni Madueke and Jackson following closely behind with four each.
Thanks to the efforts of their players, Chelsea has won four of their first six Premier League games and is currently fourth in the standings.
The Blues can increase their goal total against Gent at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night in their first game in the UEFA Conference League league phase, which is shown live on talkSPORT 2. The team has scored 23 goals in nine games.
