The media had access to the players for the first fifteen minutes of the practice, during which time they watched them perform in our striking new European training uniform.
In the Cobham media room, Enzo Maresca and Cesare Casadei fielded questions from reporters prior to the start of training. After starting his first game of the season against Barrow, the Italian midfielder talked about what it’s been like to be used in a deeper spot.
“I played more as a box-to-box midfielder last season with Enzo,” remarked Casadei, who collaborated with Maresca at Leicester until the start of the new year.
I’m training and playing holding midfield this season, and it’s beneficial for me to gain experience in a variety of positions as it will benefit my future professional endeavors. I have to always try to give it my all and be prepared to play any position the manager asks me to.Maresca fielded questions over a number of his players, including Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who was left out of the matchday squad for Saturday’s visit from Brighton. The midfield player seemed cheerful despite the Cobham downpour.
“There was no physical problem for Kiernan and all the guys that weren’t on the squad [over the weekend],” Maresca clarified. “It was simply my choice.”Kiernan experienced it last week, and other players will experience it as well. I have to do it even though it’s the worst aspect of my job.
Another name mentioned in the press conference was Mykhailo Mudryk, who has seen relatively little game action this season, according to one journalist. Maresca emphasized how challenging it is to provide every player on his team with the amount of playing time they want.
“Everyone wants to play right away, but sometimes it’s not feasible.” Misha handled Barrow really well. I’m hoping he can play well tomorrow.I don’t believe Misha lacks confidence; rather, I believe he needs to grow, just like the others. However, we are content with the way he is operating.
“We can say the same thing for [Christopher] Nkunku,” Maresca continued. He [and Mudryk] were signed by the team as big players, although they aren’t currently participating in Premier League action. In football, though, things may change quickly. The current state of affairs does not guarantee that it will remain so for the duration of the season.
Players will have another chance to prove they deserve a bigger part in Maresca’s Chelsea squad tomorrow night. We aim to kick off our European campaign with a bang when we play Gent at 8 p.m. UK time.
