In his pursuit of a starting position for Chelsea in the Premier League, Pedro Neto has revealed the one thing the whole team has to achieve in training.

The Portugal international Neto, who cost Chelsea £51.4 million from Wolves, is now settling in at Stamford Bridge and has been Chelsea’s most costly summer acquisition.

In Thursday’s 4-2 Conference League victory over Gent, the 24-year-old scored his second goal for the club. He’ll be hoping that his performance earns him a spot in Sunday’s match against Nottingham Forest.

While he made his Premier League debut on the first day of play against Manchester City, Neto has only started twice in Chelsea’s first six games and came off the bench at halftime against Bournemouth. He opens up about Chelsea training.

Since Italian coach Enzo Maresca favors winger Noni Madueke on the right side of the field, the winger has spent much of his Premier League time on the bench.

Neto has made three cup appearances this season, scoring twice (against Gent and Barrow) for the Blues.

All the players want to participate, according to Neto, who spoke after the Gent game, but they won’t be chosen unless they give their all in training.

If we don’t put up our best effort in training, we won’t play, and every player wants to play, he told Chelsea’s website.

We must make the most of our opportunities and work hard when we are able to. I believe we had a good time as a team tonight, played well, and must keep going.
