At Villa Park on Sunday, Manchester United and Aston Villa drew 0-0.

Despite winning on very difficult terrain, United never seemed like they were going to score because they didn’t generate nearly enough opportunities.

United has only scored five Premier League goals thus far this season, which is the fewest in the team’s history throughout the first seven games of a season.

 

In their last three Premier League games, United has also failed to score, going 308 minutes without a goal.

The Red Devils held 45% of the ball against Villa, while their opponent held 55%. Out of their ten attempts at goal, Erik ten Hag’s team was able to muster four shots on goal.

Villa, on the other hand, only tested Andre Onana once despite managing 11 shots overall.

United completed 356 passes with an 81% completion percentage. Villa completed 82% of the 412 passes that were strung.

Jonny Evans had a standout performance for the Reds. Evans, who plays with Harry Maguire at the center of the team’s defense, was an unexpected addition to the starting lineup.

The Northern Irishman stopped one shot and made three clearances. In addition, he made four tackles.

He engaged in seven ground fights, coming out on top six times. He successfully completed five of the five air challenges that he entered.

With 54 touches of the ball under his belt, the seasoned defender found his teammates with 36 of his 42 passes attempted (86% pass accuracy).

The 36-year-old made four long ball pinges, but only made one connection.

He let go a shot, missing the mark.
