The Los Angeles Dodgers fans rocked up to Dodger Stadium to support the team for Saturday’s NLDS opener against the San Diego Padres. Among the fans were several Dodgers players’ wives and girlfriends.
One of the faces among the Dodgers players’ partners was Japanese superstar slugger Shohei Ohtani’s wife Mamiko Tanaka. Tanaka is a rare sight at Dodgers games, but she was present ahead of Game 1 of the division series to cheer her husband on.
The Instagram account @ladodgerwives posted a picture of all the attending wives with the caption:

“GAME 1, LETS BE LOUD FOR THE BOYS IN BLUE!!! ⚾️🎉💙”
In the picture, Tanaka stands third from the left in the last row.
“Mookie Betts just not built for this”; “Playoff choker my God” – MLB fans react as Dodgers star goes 0-for-22 in the postseason since last year Ronald Acuna Jr.’s wife Maria reveals her ‘new obsession’ while his Braves teammate Austin Riley’s wife Anna introduces their infant’s ‘best friend’ Jose Canseco’s daughter Josie cheers on ex-Yankee star as he crushes homers at Going Yard Home Run Derby
The NLDS opener was Ohtani’s first postseason game since his MLB debut in 2018, thus making it an important occasion. Mamiko’s presence seemed to bring good luck for the two-time MVP as Ohtani smoked his first home run, a three-run blast, in October, to bring the Dodgers level in the second inning on Saturday.
Ohtani rocked the baseball community when he announced his marriage to Tanaka after his move to the Dodgers earlier this year. Fans got a first glimpse of Ohtani and Tanaka, a former basketball player, when the duo posed for a picture in front of an airplane flying to South Korea for the MLB World Tour in March.
Mamiko Tanaka joins Shohei Ohtani for postgame celebrations after Dodgers clinch NL West
While Mamiko Tanaka usually keeps a low profile during her visits to the games, she joined Shohei Ohtani for the team’s celebration after clinching the NL West title last month.
Tanaka also wore a denim jacket with “Ohtani” embroidered on it while the Dodgers superstar held their pet dog Decoy in his arms.
The Dodgers lost Game 2 of the series on Sunday after a quiet night for Ohtani. The team will travel to Petco Park for the next two games and return to Dodger Stadium if the series goes to a decisive Game 5.
