As the Los Angeles Dodgers took on fierce rivals the San Diego Padres for Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday, Freddie Freeman’s wife Chelsea and their sons rocked up at Dodger Stadium to cheer for the All-Star first baseman.
Chelsea Freeman took to Instagram to share the Freeman family’s game day fit with their sons wearing Freddie’s no. 5 to support their father.
“NLDS Game 1,” Chelsea captioned the post.

Their three sons stood next to each other with Brandon holding Maximus (the youngest of three) at the waist to possibly support him. Maximus was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, in August which hindered his ability to walk and move.
Ahead of the Dodgers’ NLDS showdown against the Padres, Freddie Freeman discussed the mental grind after Max was diagnosed with the life-threating disease in August.
Freddie Freeman exhausted after Max’s health scare
Although Max is recovering well after being released from the pediatric ICU in August, Freedie Freeman still needs time to get around things.
“Every day it’s a mental grind,” Freddie Freeman told The New York Times. “I’m mentally exhausted. It’s not just [Max] getting better. There’s so much more that goes into something like this. I could tell you I need more than three days. I could probably tell you I’d need the rest of my life to [reset].”
The All-Star first baseman, who took time off from the action during his son’s initial treatment, returned to action for a series against the Philadelphia Phillies in August. However, he suffered a finger injury a few games later and was asked to take a break by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts despite his reluctance.
“Obviously I pushed back and said I don’t need it,” Freddie recalled. “Even though I pushed back, he still had other paths to go down to make me realize that, hey, it’s not just that you’ve been grinding hard, it’s been a long couple of months. Let’s do this.”
Freddie Freeman registered two hits in Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday as the Dodgers came from behind to beat the Padres 7-5.
