Cole Palmer stated that moving to west London “changed my life,” despite advice not to sign with Chelsea the previous year.
Palmer began his career in the Manchester City academy at the under-eight level and advanced through the ranks, making his Pep Guardiola first-team debut in 2020.
Palmer, 22, was unable to establish himself in City’s lineup, and Guardiola disclosed to the media the previous season that Palmer was “asking for two seasons to leave” in order to play regularly for the first team.
Palmer’s move to Stamford Bridge, which cost Chelsea £45 million, has been a big success. By the end of Palmer’s first season at the club, he had contributed 15 assists and 27 goals in all competitions.
How do I look back on leaving Man City? Palmer asked ITV as he considered his choice to join the Blues. Yes, it was a risk because I had no idea what to expect or which club I would be entering. There were individuals warning me not to go there or here. However, I simply chose what I wanted to do and carried it out.
“My life was changed by moving clubs.” in a variety of ways, including leaving my hometown of Manchester and removing myself from individuals I didn’t need to be around. And, obviously, the football as well.
This season, Palmer has already netted six goals in the Premier League; four of those goals came against Brighton in one half of play.
During the current international break, he also started both of England’s games; nevertheless, he wasted points against Greece and found it difficult to have an impact on the victory over Finland.
