Chelsea debuted their “ice cold” new white away suit ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. Following their home strip earlier this month, the Blues have now unveiled their second jersey before their Wednesday night third summer friendly against Club America.
San Jose, California saw filming of the unveiling video for the new white shirt with blue and orange trim on their pre-season journey of the United States.
“The ‘blue flame’ theme from this year’s home kit continues into the away shirt, with the orange accent color presenting fire and the shared ambition, burning passion and determination of the whole club to succeed both on and off the pitch,” a club statement said.
“The shirt and shorts highlight a fresh, young, fashionable look with their woven fabric in ‘guava ice,’ a lighter shade of orange. Both are underlined with “team orange” and “rush blue” cuts to provide contrast and a relationship to the home uniform, which also carries the tones so linked with the years.”Chelsea tweeted, meantime, “looking icy chill amid the sweltering heat. Now, shop our new away kit #WeBurnBlue. After the unique home uniform was adopted, the strip has attracted mixed reactions from Blues fans on social media.
On the field, Chelsea was kept to a 2-2 game against League One team Wrexham last week before suffering a dismal 4-1 loss on Saturday. Manager Enzo Maresca said, after losing to the Scottish squad, “Off the ball we need to improve things.”
“That is part of the process; sometimes we mix when we should play a bit longer and when we should play short. We kept a nice line, but you have to lower when the ball is not under pressure; we still find some unclear problems both on and off the ball. This is natural in this stage when we are experimenting with something different.
