Christian Eriksen, a midfielder for Manchester United, scored a goal and provided an assist on Tuesday night as Denmark and Switzerland drew 1-1 in the Nations League.
Just before the half-hour mark, Remo Freuler gave the hosts the lead. However, their lead was short-lived as Denmark equalized a minute later.
With goalie Gregor Kobel at his mercy, Eriksen made the fastest reaction, winning a quick free-kick to set up Gustav Isaksen, who scored with ease.
Zeki Amdouni then scored from the penalty spot to guarantee that Switzerland was ahead going into the tunnel. Eriksen made sure that the rewards were shared between the two teams in the 69th minute of play by being in the right spot at the right moment to smash the ball inside the net.
Eriksen had 59 touches of the ball in the ninety-nine minutes (including extended time) that he was on the field.
With 35 of the 40 passes he tried finding their teammates, he managed an individual pass accuracy of 88%. Eriksen completed three crucial passes.
With five long balls and six crosses, the United number 14 attempted to reach his colleagues. He made three crosses and as many long balls as he attempted successfully.
Eriksen set up one major opportunity, which was Isaksen’s goal.
Two of the four shots that the 32-year-old midfield master took were on target, while the other two were off target. He finished the one dribble he started as well.
Eriksen engaged in three ground battles and prevailed each time. He made a pair of tackles.
It’s wonderful to witness Eriksen relishing his comeback on the club and global stages. Rasmus Hojlund, a fellow countryman and United player, also shared the pitch with him.
Hojlund didn’t have the best of games, though, and was substituted after 57 minutes, in contrast to Eriksen.
The striker completed 10 passes with success out of 17 touches of the ball. He only got off one shot, so Kobel had to move quickly to stop him.
The United forward prevailed in the lone ground battle he engaged in.

Eriksen and Hojlund’s focus is now solely on the club’s upcoming Saturday matchup at Old Trafford against Brentford.
