National champions Tigres del Licey play their first home game of the Lidom season

The two-time national champions, Tigres del Licey, opened the 2024-25 season this Thursday, October 17, with a majestic ceremony that included the first pitch being thrown out by star Major League player Elly De La Cruz.

The inauguration began with the presentation of the blue managers and baseball personalities, as well as the exchange of bouquets of flowers between the godmothers María Victoria Alsina and Dashira Then, of the Tigers and the Giants, respectively.

With an impressive light show, the two crowns representing the current national championship were presented along with the lineup of the blue team that is looking for its third consecutive championship.

The first pitch was thrown out by shortstop Elly De La Cruz, while Allan Cerda was the honorary catcher. Both players were selected by the Licey in the 2021 Rookie Draft.

The Blue team presented a plaque of recognition to De La Cruz for becoming the first player in Major League history to achieve at least 100 stolen bases and 30 home runs in his first two seasons.

The 2024-25 autumn-winter season started last Wednesday, October 16, and is dedicated to Don José León Asensio In Memoriam.
