After suffering a foot injury in the summer, the 18-year-old is back on the turf at Carrington, the club said on Monday. The center defender, who cost £52 million ($68 million) to acquire from Lille in July, is currently working out alone at the team’s training facility and getting tested in the gym.

The highly-rated adolescent was signed by United after they defeated Real Madrid, but because of the surgery-needed setback, he hasn’t yet made an appearance for the first squad in a competitive match. The club emphasize that although the young player still has “a lot of work still to do” before making his Red Devils debut, this is a positive step.

Last season, the defender made 44 appearances for Lille in all competitions, tallying three goals in the process. Clubs all over the world were vying for his signing, and in 2023–2024 he was in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year. He ultimately agreed to a contract at Old Trafford through 2029 when United finally got their man.

On Thursday, Yoro’s United team plays Fenerbahce in the Europa League while he continues his rehabilitation. The match will be enhanced by the fact that former Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho is currently in charge of the Turkish powerhouse.
