LA Dodgers slugger Tommy Edman, whom was acquired at the trade deadline, went on to be named NLCS MVP after helping the team take down the New York Mets to advance to the World Series.

Edman’s 11 hits, 11 RBIs, a two-run home run in Game 6 and scoring five times in the series were a redemption for the 29-year-old, who, in his rookie year, had gone 0-14 while with the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2019 NLCS against the Washington Nationals.

Tommy Edman’s wife, Kristen, was at the Dodger Stadium with their one-year-old son Eli and joined the celebration on the field following the Dodgers’ 10-5 Game 6 victory. On Monday, she posted glimpses from her time with the field, sharing snaps and reactions to her husband’s achievement.

Tommy Edman’s father gets teary-eyed on slugger’s heroics

Along with her mother Maureen and wife Kristen, Tommy Edman’s former baseball coach at La Jolla Country Day School, who’s also his father, John Edman, got emotional while sitting in section 105 of the Loge level of Dodger Stadium.

“We definitely got a little teary-eyed,” John said. “I mean, it was obviously a hard season for him with the injury not knowing when he was going to be ready, and I think he was pretty frustrated. For it to turn out like this is so special.“When he hit the double, we went nuts. When he hit the home run, the whole section went nuts. And the MVP chants … that blew me away. It was amazing.”

For Edman, the best moment from the entire series came when he walked up to the plate, three hitters after Shohei Ohtani, and he could hear MVP chants.

That made for a surreal moment, given that he’s a part of a star-studded batting lineup that includes former MVPs Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.

“Yeah, I could hear them — it was crazy,” Edman said. “Definitely nothing I ever expected. To be in this situation is pretty wild.”

Tommy Edman has never won the World Series, but to do so this season will be a cherry on top.
