On Friday night, Ruben Amorim pledged to put an end to the “soap opera” surrounding his hiring as Manchester United’s next manager.
The Sporting Lisbon manager is anticipated to remain in command of the Portuguese team for three more games, including Tuesday’s Champions League matchup with Manchester City, even though he will be officially named Erik ten Hag’s replacement at Old Trafford.
After Friday’s match against Estrela da Amadora, Amorim has now pledged to put an end to the doubt surrounding his future, strongly implying that he wants to establish himself in the Premier League.”It’s a difficult negotiation between two clubs,” he stated on Thursday. “All of these clarifications will be provided after the game.” The choice will then be revealed. The soap opera will soon come to an end.
“Although there were many changes and it’s impossible to make an assessment for the Champions League game, I watched Estrela Amadora and Man City play Tottenham yesterday, and I am aware of United’s result against Leicester.”
“Everything,” Amorim replied when asked what he liked best about the Premier League. Everybody has moments in their lives when they are doing really well, but then they want more, perhaps to prove something.
“Talking now is just another destabilization for the squad,” he said, acknowledging that United’s pursuit had disrupted the Sporting dressing room.I could have claimed that there was a positive vibe and that no one reads the news, but I am aware that the players are nervous.
There was absolutely no uprising. I’m telling you the truth when I say that my players weren’t typical. With a number of challenging games ahead, I could see they were anxious about the news.
“I didn’t need (captain) Morten (Hjulmand) to hold his teammates back, and there was no revolt.”
After United agreed to pay Sporting £9.2 million to release the 39-year-old from his contract and have him available for the start of the international break on November 10, Amorim is expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract at Old Trafford with the option of an additional year.
Amorim stated that he plans to bring goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital, sports scientist Paulo Barreira, and his assistants Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, and Emanuel Ferro to Old Trafford.
“I believe that a strong backroom staff is essential for all coaches,” he stated. I don’t want to get too specific. The folks I work with are one of the reasons I’ve always wanted to stay here.
