At Old Trafford, Manchester United and Chelsea battled out a disappointing 1-1 tie.
After goalie Robert Sanchez was deemed to have brought down Rasmus Hojlund, Bruno Fernandes broke the tie with a penalty kick.
Moises Caicedo’s strong shot ensured that the prizes were shared, cutting United’s lead to just four minutes.
Chelsea’s share of the ball was 54%, while Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team had 46%. Out of 11 attempts at goal, United was able to get four shots on goal. However, just three of the visitors’ twelve shots needed Andre Onana’s intervention.
With 402 passes, the Red Devils had a 79% pass accuracy rate. Chelsea had a slightly higher pass completion rate of 83% and strung 62 more passes.
Noussair Mazraoui was one of United’s better players in a game that lacked quality, particularly in the latter third.
He was outstanding from the first to the last minute and hardly made a mistake, which is remarkable given that he was a left-back.
Mazraoui made two clearances and an equal number of interceptions when he was on the field. One shot was also blocked by him.
Six tackles were successfully made by the Morocco international. He participated in 16 ground fights and won 13 of them.
With a 92% pass accuracy rate, Mazraoui touched the ball 63 times and found his teammates on 33 of his 36 attempts.
With one long ball, the 26-year-old attempted to make contact but was unable.
Mazraoui started and finished all five of the dribbles.
Due to injuries to Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, United has suffered at left-back throughout the season, but Mazraoui can undoubtedly offer the team a solution there.
The team will play PAOK in the Europa League as their next assignment.
