Shohei Ohtani is a man of many talents. A superstar pitcher and hitter, the Japanese sensation has continued to break records and defy what many believed was possible in the game of baseball. Now a World Series champion, there really might not be anything that the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar cannot do.
Thanks to the help of his friend and teammate Teoscar Hernandez, Ohtani may have yet another skill to add to his impressive resume: Spanish. In a video shared by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Instagram, Hernandez can be seen helping Ohtani with a phrase in Spanish for the fans of the club.

The World Series champion teammates can be seen in full Dodgers uniforms, practicing Ohtani’s Spanish. In the video, Ohtani delivers a flawless greeting in Spanish to Los Angeles fans.
“Buenos dias fanaticos (Good morng fans),” Ohtani said in the video.
The languages that Ohtani speaks have been a topic of discussion since he made the jump to the MLB. Although Ohtani continues to use an interpreter, the two-way superstar’s familiarity with English has grown significantly in recent years.
This was on full display during the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series parade and celebration as the NL MVP Award favorite showcased his multi-lingual skills to a packed crowd. In front of a sold-out Dodger Stadium, Shohei Ohtani thanked the crowd for being along with them on their road to winning the World Series title.
“This is a special moment for me. I am so honored to be here and to be part of this team. Congratulations, Los Angeles. Thank you fans,” Ohtani said to the fans in attendance at Dodger Stadium during the parade celebrations.
Thanks to Teoscar Hernandez, as well as Ohtani’s other Spanish-speaking teammates, it might not be long before he gives an even longer message in Spanish to supporters.
Shohei Ohtani was named a Silver Slugger Finalist for 2024
Given the fact that Shohei Ohtani is widely considered the favorite to win the National League MVP Award, it’s unsurprising to see him named as a finalist for the NL Designated Hitter Silver Slugger Award.
The Japanese superstar continued to make history by becoming the first player in MLB history to record a 50 home run and 50 stolen base season, finishing with 54 and 59 respectively.
The only other player vying for the award in his category is Marcell Ozuna for the Atlanta Braves. While he was dominant this year, Ohtani’s season was one like none other.
