On Monday afternoon, Ruben Amorim arrived at Manchester United’s Carrington training facility to formally assume the club’s management position.
After Erik ten Hag was fired late last month, Amorim was named as his replacement on November 1.
Sporting Lisbon only released him following Sunday’s 4-2 comeback victory over Braga, even though United had activated his release clause.
The Red Devils released a statement stating that their new head coach left for Manchester early in the morning on a flight from Portugal’s Beja Airport.
As Amorim begins work at Old Trafford, United’s chief executive, Omar Berrada, welcomed him to Carrington and offered him a loving embrace.
As you can see in the pictures below, technical director Jason Wilcox and sporting director Dan Ashworth were also there to welcome him.
On November 24, Amorim will make his debut as United’s manager when the Reds travel to Portman Road to play Ipswich Town, led by Kieran McKenna.
For that game, he has less than two weeks to get ready.
According to a recent article published by The Peoples Person, the 39-year-old’s visa will prevent him from supervising the players’ training sessions.
The green light has not yet been given to United, but it should come soon.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was the interim manager for the last four games, has departed the team permanently, the club recently confirmed.
Pieter Morel, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Rene Hake have also left United.
Sports scientist Paulo Barreira, Carlos Fernandes, Adélio Cândido, Jorge Vital, and Emanuel Ferro will take their position, according to journalist Ben Jacobs [via X].At Sporting, Amorim collaborated with Fernandes, Candido, Vital, Ferro, and Barreira.
