After a terrible injury layoff, Malacia played for the Red Devils for the first time since March 2023. The young Harry Amass replaced the left-back, who started for the Under-21s in a 4-1 loss to Huddersfield in the EFL Trophy, after he played 45 minutes.
Malacia’s comeback will greatly benefit Manchester United and their new manager, Ruben Amorim. Luke Shaw has also missed a lot of time due to injury, making left-back a troublesome position for the Red Devils. After missing three months of action, the England defender has resumed training with United and is getting closer to making a comeback. Amorim has now reached United and will begin working there as soon as his work permit is issued. Shaw and Malacia’s availability may be crucial to the head coach’s system because he is believed to prefer a 3-4-3 formation with wing-backs.
534 days have passed since Malacia’s final United match, in which he played in a 2-1 Premier League victory over Fulham. He has since fought through a number of ailments, but it looks like he is getting close to playing for the first team again.
Malacia is expected to resume his recuperation and return to full condition. Amorim will coach the Red Devils for the first time on November 24 when they play Ipswich.
