After saving a customer who was having a medical emergency on an EasyJet flight, Bruno Fernandes has received acclaim.
Along with teammate Diogo Dalot, the Manchester United midfielder flew from Manchester to Lisbon while on international duty with Portugal, who are getting ready for a Nations League game against Poland at home on Friday.
Fernandes intervened after a passenger became ill and “looked like he was passing out.”
During the flight, Bruno used the restroom at the rear of the aircraft, according to Susanna Lawson, a traveler who was headed to a web summit for work. Those in earshot, including ourselves as we were at the back, turned to look behind us when we heard a sharp cry for help.
A man who appeared to be fainting was in Bruno’s grasp. I’m not sure whether he passed out or not.
The man who was walking past them appeared to be ill, according to someone else who saw him.
Crew members hurried to the rear to assist. Bruno assisted the man in sitting down on a spare seat in the back.
He made sure he was alright by staying with them in the back. He returned to his seat, again in a very unassuming manner, after what must have been five to ten minutes. He didn’t want to draw attention to himself.
After the emergency was resolved, Lawson requested a photo with Fernandes.
She told Business Cloud, “He was very unassuming.” If you understand what I mean, you would never have realized he was someone extraordinary if you didn’t know who he was.
Because of that, we weren’t sure if we should approach him for a selfie. He made no mention of Manchester United.
As we were getting off the plane, I asked him nicely for a selfie, and he was so sweet that he took it himself.
I gave him credit for tending to the sick traveler. To be honest, you would have assumed he was just another traveler if you hadn’t known who he was.
Fernandes scored in United’s 3-0 victory over Leicester City over the weekend, marking his 250th appearance for the team and capping off Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim tenure as manager.
