Due to injury concerns, Nkunku only made 11 Premier League appearances last season despite joining Chelsea in 2023 for £52 million from RB Leipzig.
With 10 goals in 16 appearances this season, the 26-year-old has been in outstanding goal-scoring form and seems to have conquered those issues.
However, under new Blues manager Enzo Maresca, Nkunku has only started one league game, and the great majority of those goals have come in the Europa Conference League and the Carabao Cup.According to sources, Nkunku is becoming irritated with his lack of playing time in west London after being forced to fill in for players like Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke, and Cole Palmer.
The France international has apparently drawn interest from a number of teams, with Manchester United even being mentioned as a possible January transfer target.
Nkunku, however, has been advised by former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson that he would be “mad” to leave Stamford Bridge and that he can begin to make a significant contribution to the club.We don’t know if he’s completely recovered from his injuries, which made his first few days at the club difficult. Johnson informed Betfred.
We’ve seen some very impressive stuff from him in spells, and now that Chelsea is moving in the right direction, he would be crazy to go.
“They’re in a much better position now, and Chelsea will have a good player on their hands if he can get fit and start.” He simply doesn’t appear to be completely fit yet.
As new manager Ruben Amorim gains experience at Old Trafford after leaving Sporting Lisbon, Nkunku is being linked to United.Glenn Hoddle asked last month if Nkunku was “happy” at Chelsea and implied that he would try to depart before the January transfer window opens.
Ahead of Chelsea’s match against Panathinaikos, Hoddle stated of Nkunku on TNT Sports: “He knows he’s not quite at his sharpest yet, and the injuries are obviously there.”
If Nkunku had the same amount of playing time and opportunities as Nicolas Jackson this season, I believe he would be more clinical than the forward for Chelsea.
“Jackson is clearly getting better and more self-assured; at the moment, the manager believes in and supports him.”
