Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea team had a “completely different player” from Lewis Hall
Lewis Hall claims he has changed as a player from the one Thomas Tuchel, the new England manager, gave a first-team debut to at Chelsea.
Tuchel gave 17-year-old Hall his first senior appearance during Chelsea’s 2022 FA Cup victory against Chesterfield.
After being called up to the final round of games before the German takes charge in January, Hall, who is currently 20 and playing for Newcastle, will soon be back on Tuchel’s radar.
He claims that he has changed into a completely different player and is unsure if their prior connection would help him when his old club boss starts. When asked if he would benefit from Tuchel’s appointment, the left-back replied, “Possibly.” I believe that I have changed as a player entirely.
I believe the idea behind it was that, being a midfielder at the time, I was confident with the ball and knew we would have a lot of possession.
Since I feel like my game has changed drastically since then, I’m not sure if that still has any meaning.
“He gave me my debut and was a good person to me; without that, I don’t think I would have had the confidence I did when I was younger.”
“I appreciate that, but at this time, I just need to concentrate on Lee Carsley, the manager, and I’m having a great time doing it.”
Hall has an opportunity to solidify his place as England’s top pick in a position that has been problematic in recent months.
Over the past few months, right-backs have nearly always filled in at left-back.
Hall sensed a call-up was imminent because he had started all 11 of Newcastle’s Premier League games this season.
He went on to say, “I think the lack of out-and-out left-backs in the squad is the only reason I had some feelings.”
I believe that I have changed as a player entirely.
Lewis Hall Some players are able to play both left and right, but I was just thinking, ‘If I am playing well for my team, that is all I can do.’ The manager will then make the final decision. Naturally, I was overjoyed when he chose me.
“I am still very young, and I am truly appreciative every time I play for England, regardless of age level. I sincerely appreciate being in this camp right now.
“Luke Shaw is someone I watched a lot when he played for England, and I really like a lot of things he does in his game. I can take parts of his game and use them in my own game, and one day I can play for England on a regular basis.”
