When Chelsea played Arsenal in the Premier League this past weekend, there was undoubtedly a pantomime villain in the house at Stamford Bridge.
Supporters made their sentiments known to Kai Havertz, who was not the most well-liked person in West London as he tried to make an impression up front for the Gunners against his old team.
Despite appearing to have the final laugh after scoring the goal in the first half, the German was jeered almost every time he touched the ball.
Kai Havertz is deemed “disrespectful” by John Obi Mikel.Havertz celebrated the score, which was ultimately disallowed for offside, by shushing the home crowd, which only made them more irate.
Havertz’s celebration of what he believed to be the first goal did not impress John Obi Mikel, who called the Champions League winner’s behavior “disrespectful.”
“Looking back, I think it’s just the adrenaline and passion of the game that made him do that, but I still think it’s a bit disrespectful to a club that you’ve played for and won trophies for,” he stated on the Obi One Podcast.
I wasn’t the most popular player when I played for Chelsea. I wasn’t given the credit I deserved by some of the supporters. Despite this, I continued to love the club and perform my duties.
“I believe you should still be treated with some respect even if you quit the football team and return and score. Don’t try to silence the supporters, but you can still celebrate. I’m not sure why that occurred, but it seemed a little disrespectful to me.
