Following a 1-2 Premier League loss to West Ham United at the end of October, Manchester United eventually dismissed Erik ten Hag of his managerial responsibilities.
After a terrible start to the season that left United sagging in the bottom half of the table and far behind in the Europa League, INEOS was forced to make this decision.
After Ruud van Nistelrooy stabilized the ship for a few games, Ten Hag’s permanent replacement was later named Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim.
After settling in the North West for the previous two and a half years, the Dutch coach was apparently “devastated” to lose his position at Old Trafford.
The 54-year-old has now made his way back to the city, where they ate dinner before heading back to their Manchester mansion, according to The Daily Mail.
Ten Hag and his wife Bianca were seen visiting Hale Village’s Piccolino, an Italian restaurant that the previous manager frequented while he lived there.
But in the end, the couple returned to empty their belongings from their neighboring mansion in order to start a new chapter in their life.
The Dutchman left United after winning back-to-back titles, including an FA Cup victory against Manchester City in May, despite the terrible run of play that ultimately lost him his job.
With Italian powerhouse Roma reportedly wanting to entice him to Serie A, Ten Hag was predicted to return to action fairly immediately.
Nevertheless, negotiations failed, and the former Ajax player is still a free agent searching for a permanent job.
As he works to clean up the damage created by some careless performances since the campaign began, Ten Hag’s successor, Amorim, has been putting himself in his shoes.
Amorim’s first task is to travel to Ipswich Town, who were just promoted, on Sunday. The new head coach will be eager to start his term as successfully as possible.
