After making an impression for the Serie A team and helping them earn their first-ever Champions League berth, the Dutchman joined in July in a £42 million transfer from Bologna.

Even though Zirkzee scored on his United debut, he hasn’t been able to hit the net much and lost his spot in the team prior to Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.According to reports in October, the 23-year-old was considering moving back to Italy in time for the January transfer window because he was dissatisfied in Manchester.

Zirkzee is’seriously considering’ leaving during the winter transfer window, according to the Italian publication La Stampa, even if Amorim’s arrival would provide him a fresh start in the Premier League.

In an attempt to persuade Juventus to make an offer, the former Bayern Munich trainee reportedly “instructed” his agents to find him a new club. The Netherlands international would be reunited with Thiago Motta, who took over the Old Lady this summer, his former Bologna manager, if he moved to the Allianz Stadium.

Motta is eager to get a striker since Zirkzee and Dusan Vlahovic’s replacements would meet his desired profile. Given that Zirkzee is “interested” in joining the Serie A team, the Bianconeri are unlikely to press for a permanent deal in January, and a loan agreement might be the only option available.

With just one goal in 17 games since joining United, the striker has battled for form. Against Fulham, he scored his first goal after being called on from the bench and the super-sub headed the ball into the corner, making him an immediate hit with the Stretford End.
