The way Chelsea have been ‘battering’ opposition with their Premier League performances has left Levi Colwill feeling’scared’ to play on the other side.
Even before Sunday’s match against Aston Villa, Colwill had already praised Enzo Maresca for transforming the team into a serious contender for a spot in the top four. The Blues center back even went so far as to claim that Maresca has taken the “question mark” off Chelsea, as they have only lost to Manchester City and Liverpool this season.
“I would be terrified to play against us,” Colwill stated of Nicolas Jackson’s assault, a topic on which he has been constantly defending Chelsea this season. Our ability to dismantle defenses and set up countless scoring opportunities is remarkable. When you’re on a roll, defenses will adjust their strategies to counter your strengths. All we can do is keep playing football as usual, adapting to new situations, and winning games. If we want to win the game and impress the fans, Villa is the place to do it.
It’s the manager’s fault. We now have that assurance because he has stepped in. Truly, he has put us up for success. Going into games, we’re essentially destroying the opposition. We’re displaying outstanding football skills.
No longer are people staring at us with confusion. They anticipate that we will play competitive football and strive for victory. We have been engaging in that activity.Following Thursday’s Conference League victory at Heidenheim, Colwill spoke to the media. Continuing, the 21-year-old Englishman said, “There is nothing more I could ask for” when asked about Maresca’s decision to give him a chance to play central defense for his A squad. The coach has put his faith in me to perform at a high level on the field, and I refuse to make any excuses.
“Definitely” was his response when asked if playing center back makes him happier than his prior position of left back. Although I am flexible and will play wherever the club needs me to, I thrive when given opportunities to showcase my football skills and abilities.
This season, I have been following the manager’s instructions and doing just that. I really hope it continues.
According to Colwill, “It’s worth it” to live at home with his parents and XL torment Stormz. Being at home was the best option for me. My parents and younger brother always make sure I’m taken care of. It’s been a life-changing decision.
