Against the Villans, Enzo Maresca’s team had 64% of the possession, took 17 shots, created two excellent opportunities, and produced 1.61 xG. Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernández, and Nicolas Jackson all scored goals as the Blues maintained their strong play. The 23-year-old midfielder Fernandez, who scored a goal in consecutive weeks and maintained his excellent run of form since rejoining the team, was one of Chelsea’s standout performances on the field.

The numerical performance of Enzo FernándezFor a few weeks, Fernandez was left out of Maresca’s Premier League starting lineup because he decided to put Roméo Lavia and Moises Caicedo in central areas in order to emphasize aggressiveness.Fernandez, however, has made himself unstoppable since rejoining the starting lineup, scoring goals in back-to-back Premier League games and dishing out five assists in his last four appearances.

In addition to his goal against Aston Villa, Fernandez won six of his 11 ground duels, made three tackles, and executed two crucial passes and two of his two successful dribbles.

Enzo Maresca’s update on Wesley Fofana

On Sunday afternoon, the Blues were playing well at Stamford Bridge, easily defeating Aston Villa, one of our top-four contenders.

But there might have been a price for it. After an hour of play, Benoit Badiashile replaced Fofana, who had once again played well at center-back, after he hobbled off with an injury.

Maresca thinks it is a setback for the squad, especially as we approach the hectic December calendar, considering that Fofana has started all but one of our Premier League games this season, with the exception of his suspension against Liverpool.

After the 3-0 victory, he was questioned about Fofana’s health and said, “Unfortunately, it is bad news.” “It’s a hamstring issue, and these typically take three, four, or five weeks, but right now we’re losing him for ten or twelve games.”We miss him a lot because of the style he was playing, but we have other players and will work to find a solution.

He’s going great, so it’s a huge loss, but regrettably, this is typical when you play this many games. Thankfully, it’s his first injury of the season, and we’ll figure something out.

Better news came elsewhere, as Malo Gusto, a fellow Frenchman, made a comeback to play against Villa off the bench after missing the Conference League trip to Heidenheim in the middle of the week and last week’s victory at Leicester due to sickness.Maresca thinks Gusto’s availability is a pleasant boost for the Blues, just as Fofana’s absence will be a significant loss.

“Malo is doing great,” our head coach commented. I have stated often that Malo is a contributing factor in our current situation. He greatly aids us in the procedure.

He has filled three or four positions for us, playing full-back outside, full-back inside, and full-back in the pocket. The good news is that he is content because he is also gaining new knowledge.
