The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly poised to re-sign Teoscar Hernández this offseason, according to David Vassegh of AM570 radio. Vassegh shared insights on Wednesday, noting that many around the league anticipate Hernández will return to the Dodgers, emphasizing that discussions are ongoing to finalize the details of a new contract.
Hernández had a standout season in his first year with the Dodgers in 2024, following a one-year deal signed last offseason when his market wasn’t as strong as he had hoped. He aimed to boost his value in Los Angeles and certainly succeeded, finishing the season with a .272 batting average, a career-high 33 home runs, and 99 RBIs. His remarkable performance earned him a spot in the All-Star game, a victory in the Home Run Derby, and a Silver Slugger award, all while contributing to the Dodgers’ postseason success and their World Series victory.
Fans quickly embraced Hernández, drawn to his grit, positive attitude, and vibrant personality. He consistently delivered in crucial moments, particularly in October, where he hit .250 with three home runs and an OPS of .750.
While a contract has yet to be confirmed, any agreement is expected to be a multiyear deal. Hernández declined the Dodgers’ qualifying offer of $21 million for one year, with projections suggesting he might secure a three-year deal valued between $69 million and $71 million, according to reports from The Athletic and Spotrac.
Hernández has expressed a strong desire to remain with the Dodgers, stating, “My hopes are really high… the Dodgers are the priority obviously. I’m going to do everything in my power to come back.” With Vassegh indicating that the two sides are nearing a contract conclusion, Hernández’s return would likely eliminate the Dodgers from the running for Juan Soto.
